iTunesCheck is a program that I wrote after checking out several other programs and not finding exactly what I wanted. It provides global hot keys for controlling iTunes without switching to it, it provides a hotkeyable floating window that shows the currently playing song, and it provides a hotkey for quickly finding a song without switching to iTunes. Yes, all of these things are, of course, available directly in the iTunes interface. But I find it cumbersome to have to switch to iTunes just to figure out what song is playing. This is faster. What's New: Version 0.8a: Added preference to disable window animation. Also updated animation to apply to window fadeout. Added preference to disable splash screen at startup. Added visualizer toggle hot key. Added hot key to hide/unhide iTunes Added option to have more precise increments on volume control. Added fast forward and rewind hot keys. Added option to have the info window be always on. Added album artwork to display options. Added genre, equalizer, grouping, and comments to display options. Added play button to QuickPlay window so that you can just play a playlist without having to search for something in it. Changed delay time and check frequency sliders to have more increments. Fixed bug that wouldn't allow you to move the info window to a screen other than your main one. Also fixed up the display sizing code a great deal. It should be more accurate. Fixed a bug where window borders would only show up once. Fixed a problem where there was no way to get out of the QuickPlay window if you didn't want to search. Escape makes the window leave, now. Fixed a bug where auto-display wouldn't let you quit iTunes (iTunesCheck would just open it again). Modularized the hot keys for easy expansion. Along with this comes a new hot key interface, which I think is less cluttered. | |
