NetNewsWire is an easy-to-use RSS news reader for web sites. It uses a familiar three-paned interface -- like that of Outlook Express or Mailsmith -- to display websites and their news. Features include: The Weblog Editor allows one to post to Radio, Blogger, Movable Type, and other types of weblogs. It works with most of the popular weblog systems. The Notepad is an outline, a place to take notes and store headlines, subscriptions, URLs, and files. The Find command looks for specific text in headlines. AppleScript support allows one to get and set information about headlines and subscriptions. The Scripts menu runs your AppleScript scripts from within NetNewsWire. Headlines are now stored between runs, which means you can download the news and then read it on the train or anywhere you don't have web access. If NetNewsWire Lite is already running, quit it before running NetNewsWire. What's New: Version 2.0b3 adds: Flagged items. When you mark an item as flagged, NetNewsWire keeps it forever or until you unflag it. You can see all your flagged items in a special flagged-items subscription. Searching. A search field in the toolbar works like Mail, iTunes, and similar applications. Embedded browser. Read web pages directly inside NetNewsWire's tabbed browser. External weblog editor support. NetNewsWire can send posts to MarsEditand also to XJournal, ecto, Blapp, and Cocoal.icio.us. Persistence. Tell NetNewsWire how long to keep news items. Smart lists. Like smart playlists in iTunes, smart lists display news items based on rules that you set up. Search engine subscriptions. Subscribe to searches at Blogdigger, Daypop, and Feedster. Script subscriptions. Write scripts that generate Atom and RSS feeds. Built-in styles. A new Styles popup menu lets you choose from a list of style sheetsand you can create your own. Enclosures. You can open RSS enclosures and access them via AppleScript. Activity window. See the progress of the current download session and cancel t | |
