Overflow 1.0 is an AudioUnit which generates digital bit-overflow distortion, much like early ADC (Analog-to-Digital Convertor) chips would react to excessive input levels by overflowing the available word length. Now that modern ADC chips nearly all have a more "analog" hard clip response, this plug-in allows access to an older, but tasty flavor of distortion. Side-feature: The "Swap" switch treats the input as 16-bit data and swaps each byte, which might be useful if you somehow have a bitstream or sound file in little-endian order (Intel, and others) and need it translated to big-endian order (Motorola, IBM, etc.). When "on," the other parameters are ignored. |
